Lenburg Appears on CBS Evening News's 'Flintstones' Tribute
On September 30, 2010, to mark the 50th anniversary of the television premiere of The Flintstones, the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric featured noted author and animation historian Jeff Lenburg to discuss the origins, campy humor, and enduring popularity of the hit Stone Age sitcom created and produced by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.
Originally debuting on ABC in 1960, the series, besides becoming the longest-running prime-time cartoon series of its time (since surpassed by The Simpsons), spawned numerous Saturday-morning spin-offs, specials, and full-length features based on the original characters.
